How age is calculated
Your age is the number of complete years between your date of birth and a chosen date. After the full years, the remaining time is counted in complete months and then days. This tool borrows days from the previous month when needed, which is the same method people use by hand.
Why the “age on date” field is useful
Many forms ask for your age on a specific cut-off date, such as the last day of an application window for a job, a scholarship or an exam. Change the second date to that cut-off and the calculator shows your exact age on that day.
Leap years
People born on 29 February have a birthday only every fourth year. In non-leap years the calculator treats 1 March as the next date, which is the most common legal convention, though rules for official purposes can differ by country.
